Benitses, Resort Overview

Benitses – Μπενίτσες

The resort of Benitses is unique as it has grown alongside the old fishing village and it has its own boat and yacht marina. Being only 12 kilometres south of the airport it is easy to see why it became one of the islands busiest locations for the young crowd back in the 1980’s. Nowadays the late clubs have gone and it has returned to the peaceful pretty hillside resort it once was.

Location              South Corfu
Corfu Airport  12 km
Travel Time     20 minutes by car or taxi

Beach & Swimming
The beach stretches a long way along the east coast and is made up of mainly sand and shingle. Water sports and scuba diving are available as well as sun beds and parasols. It has been awarded the Blue flag award for the clear blue waters and clean beach.

There is everything you need here though. Accommodation is excellent with 3, 4 and 5 star hotels a short stroll from the sea. Small hotels with pools, apartments, studios and rooms to rent for every budget are catered for.

Bars, Tavernas, Shops & Supermarkets
All the usual shops are here including mini markets, tourist shops, doctors, and a pharmacy. Travel agencies will advise you what boat trips there are and give you all the information you need on the local area.

The Tavernas and restaurants are excellent and many specialise in traditional Greek cooking together with fresh fish caught during the early hours of the morning. If you want a snack then there are a few fast food places, cake shops and a famous bakery.

Benitses Marina
The yachting marina has been built around the old fishing harbour and now boasts a large car park. Many visitors sail in each day to sample the delights of what the resort has to offer.

The old village a short stroll away and there are a couple of traditional Tavernas here which are well worth a visit not only for the food but a different view of the village.

Benitses goes back to Roman times and there are ruins here of Roman baths and mosaics.
