Barbati, Resort Overview

Barbati – Μπαρμπάτι

Set on the foothills of the largest mountain in Corfu, Mount Pantokrator, Barbati is a resort which has grown steadily over the years. It is a relatively quiet area which appeals to families and couples looking for a retreat away from the crowds.

Location              North East Corfu
Corfu Airport  20 km
Travel Time     30 minutes by car or taxi

Accommodation
There is a mixture of good quality hotels and apartments mostly above the main resort road so it is usual to make the 10 minute walk downwards to the beach.

Most accommodation has fantastic panorama views of the sea, looking east to mainland Greece and south to Corfu town.

Food & Drink
There are some nice Tavernas and restaurants straddled along the road and as you walk around you will discover a different one each day as you explore the area. There are also a couple of Tavernas on the beach if you prefer a romantic evening for two by the sea.

Beach & Swimming
The long straight beach consists of small pebbles giving way to sand once you enter the sea – you will need flip flops here. Barbati has been awarded a Blue flag for beach cleanliness.

Nearby
Heading north there are some beautiful bays worth visiting where you can either drive or hire a boat and access them from the sea.

There are no immediate villages above Barbati so those looking to find a tradition Greek village would be advised to go south until you see the right hand turn for Spartilas. Over 20 hairpin bends will take you up to the centre and at 400 metres above sea level this village is known locally as the “Window of Corfu” for its spectacular views.
